Any surface turbulance does not affect suction and debris stays on the outside so it's never necessary to disconnect the hose to clean the screen. The nozzle can be adjusted and locked through a 90 degree arc to prevent bending of hose and enables the strainer to always sit flat on the bottom of the tank.
